The nerve conduction study is normal except for absent right peroneal motor response. The needle EMG shows widespread denervation in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar seqments. Considering clinical evidence of hyperreflexia and progressive course, this meets the El Escorial criteria for the diagnosis of ALS. Click here for diagnosis and discussion.
